Preheat oven to 350°. Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch
square baking pan. Drizzle melted butter or margarine over bread. If desired,
sprinkle with raisins or other chopped fruit. In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar,
cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push
down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking up the egg mixture. Bake in
the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly
tapped.

bread, If desired, sprinkle with nuts or raisins. In large bowl, combine eggs,
milk, sugars, pumpkin, melted butter, spices, and vanilla. Mix well.
Pour over bread and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered
and soaking up the mixture. Bake in 350° oven 45-60
minutes or until the top springs back when lightly tapped. Serve plain or use a vanilla dessert sauce, brown sugar sauce, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream.
*To make pumpkin purée, cut a pumpkin in
half, scoop out the seeds and stringy stuff, lie face down on a foil lined
baking sheet. Bake at 350°F until soft, about 45 min to an hour. Cool, scoop
out the flesh. Freeze whatever you don't use for future use. Or, if you are
working with pumpkin pieces, roast or boil them until tender, then remove and
discard the skin
Pumpkin SpiceIngredients:
2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 Tsp Ground Ginger
1/2 Tsp Allspice
1/2 Tsp Nutmeg
Note: You can vary it to suit your taste. Mix
ingredients in a bowl. Store in an airtight container.
Tip: Keep
and wash an empty spice container with a shaker top. Mark a label with
Pumpkin Spice and place on container.
